Abstract

Genetic engineering can be considered as product of knowledge and as a culmination of achievement in biotechnology that will bring the benefit mankind. It is perhaps or a longer period of time and the truth is that you should not be categorical in attitudes. However, there are risks for which genetically modified organisms (GMOs) should be introduced very cautiously and gradually. Genetic engineering is already used in pharmaceutical industry for the production medicaments (antibiotics, insulin, vaccines, interferon), and more and more used for food production. The first modified plant that appeared on the market a tomato, back in 1994. Large and fast application of genetic engineering imposes multinational companies (Monsato,  Syngenta, Aventis, Dupont), who see this as possibility to increase of their income. Most of these companies are located in the United States, which are under their influence started the wide used genetic engineering for food production. Today, they seeking to impose their interest over World Trade Organization (WTO) in the world.
