Abstract

The goal of our research is to determine and present the opinion of teachers on problem-solving teaching process. Sample of examinees contained 120 teachers of class teaching and subject teaching from Gračanica Municipality. In their work teachers use modern teaching strategies, including problem-solving teaching process. Preconditions for conducting problem-solving teaching process are provided partially, especially education of teachers, material support and help of institutions in charge, as well as support of school management. The teachers confirmed that the advantages of problem-solving teaching process are huge comparing to traditional system. For students, this way of learning is easier and simpler, faster and more efficient, students are motivated and interested, they achieve better results and enjoy its advantages. Problem- solving teaching process is most frequently used in teaching subjects of Mathematics, Bosnian Language and My Environment. It is used less frequently in teaching subjects of German Language, Information Systems and Religious Study. Teachers mentioned many limitations for application of problem-solving teaching process in our schools, such as: low motivation of teachers, insufficient material and other support, difficulties in preparation of process and unpreparedness of students. They also provided many suggestions for improvement of problem-solving teaching process in our schools.
