THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY AS A FACTOR OF PROTECTION AND RISK IN THE EMERGENCE OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY

We live in an age of rapid changes in all spheres of life, social relations and social aspects of personality development. The family is the social group that today feels the most contemporary challenges, social movements, globalization and the challenges of technological achievements, which ultimately affect the character of the individual and the family. Modern technological achievements contribute to a faster
and more efficient flow of information of a social, family, business, psychosocial and global nature, and very significantly affect changes in all spheres of life and social relations. They definitely become an in- tegration segment of people’s everyday life, they become a life aid for communication and participation in the social community, business world, family, education and in every other human dimension of life. The family is the key protective mechanism and support of each of its members and continuously tries to cope with all social, psychosocial and contemporary challenges and risks, which very often negatively affect all or some of its members. The key challenge of the family is the successful development of each of its members, and on the other hand, the family is the most important factor in protecting its members from various socially unacceptable phenomena and risks of today, prevention of socially unacceptable behavior of children / minors (various deviant behaviors, crime, alcoholism, narcotism, prostitution, begging, theft, gambling, juvenile delinquency and other socially unacceptable behaviors). Through this expert work, we want to highlight the importance of the family as a basic social group with all its speci- ficities, challenges and risk factors today.
