Abstract

The problem of domestic violence is very complex. Domestic violence is widespread and deeply ingrained social problem in many countries around the world. Domestic violence happens regardless of wealth or poverty, religion, education, and community or family. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a deeply traditional and patriarchal society. Traditional biases perpetuate a view of domestic violence as a private family matter in which nobody should interfere. The country has adequate laws to protect against domestic violence. The problem is that many women who are victims of violence, in most do not know about these laws, they have no information that can help them to know their rights under the law, and therefore does not know whom to turn to the competent institutions in such cases. It is therefore very important to provide all available public information on the procedure in cases of domestic violence.
