Economic costs of traffic accidents are considerable. These costs are primarily related to the amount of material and non-pecuniary damage. So far, a very small number of studies, which would determine the costs “pro- duced by” traffic accidents, have been carried out in Serbia. By to the annual level, these traffic accident costs are measured in billions of euros. Therefore, investment in traffic safety is not a cost, it is a benefit for saving every human live. The aim of this paper is to analyze the amount of the costs of material and immaterial damage in our country and to draw attention to this problem.
