Abstract

Microtraces represent material evidence of contact. In the process of scientific research on criminal activity, physics, chemistry, and physical chemistry provide significant assistance, as their methodological and technical advancements contribute to obtaining essential knowledge crucial for successfully identifying traces and microtraces and securing material evidence.

In this context, modern developments in science and technology contribute to discovering newer and more advanced methods that enable the detection, fixation, and examination of various types of microtraces, which was not achievable in the past.

Such evidence is created during the commission of a criminal act and results from the direct interaction between the perpetrator and the victim, as well as between the perpetrator and material objects or individuals. By correctly identifying microtraces, properly fixing them, and preventing contamination, along with detailed forensic analyses, material evidence essential for further criminal proceedings is reliably secured. Most importantly, such evidence serves as irrefutable proof in court—acting as the "silent and reliable witnesses of a criminal event."
